Multi-carrier package tracker
Back to trackerCool, but ... why?
Hi there, my name is Mike and I like to make stuff.
Around ten years ago I started modifying my own guitars to save money. I built my first "partscaster" not long after as a way to pass the time and it turned into a nice little side hustle. One thing that was a bit of a hassle was keeping track of my parts orders. I was ordering pickups from Sweetwater, necks from Stratosphere and Warmoth, miscellaneous parts from eBay and Reverb, and all of these things were arriving via different carriers. I made a spreadsheet for keeping track of deliveries, which worked just fine because I was only ever really watching out for maybe five or six packages a week.
Still, that minor hassle was enough to make me think that a multi-carrier tracker would be pretty handy. What I ultimately wanted was the ability to copy/paste five tracking numbers from three carriers in one text field, click a button, and see where my packages were. I made a proof of concept that only worked with UPS and, as it tends to do, life, back burner. Fast forward a few years and I decided to sit down and once again spend a bunch of weekends putting a forehead-shaped dent in my desk.
I'm not building guitars much anymore, but I'm thinking I can't be the only person who would find something like this useful.
If you're that someone, then track those packages my friend.
